About The Program
Born out of an NSF EPSCOR grant entitled Idaho Community-engaged Resilience for Energy-Water Systems (I-CREWS), ASSERT – Aligning Stakeholders and Structures to Enable Research Transformation – is led by Dr. Michele Brumley, Dr. Kitty Griswold, and Emma Fox-Fogle.
Overview
As a community, we will explore how to pursue transformative research ideas from initial question to implementation.
Participants will meet weekly during the Spring 2026 semester. These sessions will include facilitated discussions, guest speakers, skill-building workshops, and collaborative feedback. Outside of these sessions, participants will be expected to complete readings, engage in reflective practice, and work on individual projects.
Faculty participation in ASSERT is equivalent to other forms of scholarship, including but not limited to an external proposal, peer-reviewed publication, invited oral or poster presentation, or a patent. As such, participation will be included in the annual evaluation of any and all participants, including a letter of support outlining the contributions from all involved. Faculty support is available (i.e. course release) for ASSERT participants.
